J. Jeffrey Riggs
Principal
Mr. Riggs is a founding partner of Essex Financial Group, Mountain West Management and Baron Properties and is responsible for corporate strategy, equity and debt sponsorship and relations. Mr. Riggs has also been active in the commercial mortgage banking business for 25 years as President of Essex Financial Group and its predecessor companies since 1985. Baron Properties owns and manages multi-family properties in the Denver, Colorado Springs and Austin, Texas. Currently, Baron's ownership and management portfolio consists of over 27 apartment communities totaling over 4,500 units with a value exceeding $200 million. Previously, Mr. Riggs was also a founding partner of Metropolitan Homes from 1992 to 1999 where he constructed and sold over 500 homes in the Denver area. Mr. Riggs received his M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut and has held several board positions with profit and non-profit organizations.
Scott J. Fisher
Principal
Mr. Fisher is a founding partner of Mountain West Management and is responsible for third party asset management and receivership services, sourcing, structuring and negotiating acquisitions, equity and debt sponsorships, property operations, and corporate oversight. Mr. Fisher has been active in the commercial mortgage banking business for 29 years, completing in excess of $1 billion in debt and equity transactions. Mr. Fisher was a Principal of Essex Financial Group.
T.J. Tarbell
Principal
Mr. Tarbell is responsible for sourcing, structuring and negotiating acquisitions, debt/equity placement, development & repositioning of existing assets, as well as asset management and receivership services. Prior to joining Mountain West, Mr. Tarbell was an analyst at Essex Financial Group, a Denver based mortgage banking company. While at Essex, Mr. Tarbell underwrote and placed over $200,000,000 worth of debt, mezz debt and equity. Prior to working at Essex Financial Group, Mr. Tarbell was in the Corporate and Investment Banking Analyst Program at KeyBank where he worked in the Commercial Real Estate and Commercial Bank lines of business. While at KeyBank Mr. Tarbell served as an asset manager in the bank's special servicing department where he was responsible for managing a portfolio of non-performing CMBS loans in multiple states. Mr. Tarbell received his B.A. in Economics from Colorado State University.
Mary F. Knoll
Chief Financial Officer
Ms Knoll is Chief Financial Officer for Essex Financial Group, Mountain West Management and Baron Properties where she is responsible for all financial reporting, accounting, tax, cash management, and financial planning. She has expertise in financial systems, internal controls, planning and analysis, strategic planning, procurement, and staff leadership and management with multiple industry experience including telecommunications, manufacturing, construction, banking, and public accounting. Prior to joining the partnership, Ms Knoll was Executive Director of Operations Support for Comcast's National Communications Engineering and Operations Group. While with Comcast she also managed the merger integration of Comcast and AT&T Broadband. She also served as managing director for the Denver Financial Service Center for the Resolution Trust Corporation from 1992Ñ1996. In that position Ms Knoll was responsible for all loan servicing and transaction related accounting and reporting. She is a licensed certified public accountant and a member of the AICPA and Colorado Society of CPAs. Ms Knoll has substantial experience in receivership accounting and court reporting.
Pamela A. Nilemo
Senior Asset Manager
Mrs. Nilemo is responsible for third party asset management as well as property operations of Mountain West's Colorado, Dallas and Arizona portfolios including, property level budgeting, lease/rent negotiations, capital expenditures and tenant/vendor relations. Mrs. Nilemo has 9 years experience with Mountain West and was previously with Essex Financial Group.
Justin D. Sims
Portfolio Director
Mr. Sims directs portfolio activities through asset management, investor reporting, debt placement/refinancing, risk-management and asset disposition. He works closely with the Asset Management team to execute project-specific business strategy in order to maximize returns for investors. After receiving his B.A. from the University of Michigan, Mr. Sims worked as an in-house business process and information-flow consultant for a NYSE-listed company in New York City. He then earned his M.B.A. from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado with concentration in Real Estate before joining Mountain West.
